Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four major tournaments during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her final two events in 2025 as a result of the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but opted to return home to regain her health prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set in the match with Zhu due to back discomfort that has affected her during parts of the season.

These outcomes followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the top 30 globally after a long gap in more than three years, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that the trial session with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
