RFU Presents Ambitious Plan to Boost Female Rugby and Build on England’s Global Championship Triumph

The Rugby Football Union has committed to sustaining forward drive by introducing a long-term strategy designed to capitalize on the triumph of England's World Cup victory.

Primary Objectives of the Strategy

Titled A New Era for Every Rose, the initiative details multiple bold goals, among them aiming to be the first English squad to achieve consecutive global tournament titles.

A further primary goal is to increase participation to 100,000 participants engaging in rugby across the nation by the year 2030, currently standing at the present total of sixty thousand.

Revenue and Support Targets

The RFU is also aiming to increase twofold its revenues from the women’s game to sixty million pounds, allowing increased funding in grassroots rugby.

Moreover, the plan sets out a goal of building 3 million dedicated followers.

“The pressures have never been greater,” stated the executive director, the executive director of the women’s game. “The chance has never been greater, but standing still is not possible because the wheels are now fully in motion.”

Creating a Legacy for Women’s Rugby

The director highlighted that the women's game has advanced greatly since her beginning at the rugby union in over a decade ago, when there were only 12,500 registered players.

Teasdale continued that the organization operates in an context where resources are restricted, which can result in difficult decisions.

“Bold initiatives, notably for the women's sport, typically question the current situation,” she noted. “But the reality is evident: the long-term prospects of rugby relies on the female rugby.”

Support Base and Future Focus

Meanwhile, the head of the rugby union, a senior leader, noted that of the 400,000 fans who visited the global tournament, thirty percent had never been to a rugby match previously.

“Maybe the figure that really motivates us is that 90% said they would like to come back and watch more matches,” he said. “But we should not be satisfied. We need to keep our foot on the gas.”
