Manchester United's women's team has made a major addition by securing the services of Germany national team forward Lea Schuller who joins from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old, who has signed a contract running until June 2029, marks the team's second signing of the winter transfer period, following the arrival of full-back Hanna Lundkvist.

An Accomplished Winner

The player enjoyed five years at the Bavarian club, making over 100 appearances and playing a key role in the team secure multiple Bundesliga championships.

On the international stage, her statistics is equally impressive, with 54 strikes in 82 caps for the German national team.

"From our initial talks that I had with manager Marc Skinner and the club, the aspirations of everyone involved were extremely evident," commented Schuller.

She featured in the squad that finished as runners-up to England at the 2022 European Championship and later won a third-place finish at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ideal Move

"I still have so much that I aim to achieve in my career, and I am convinced that Manchester United is the ideal environment to join," she added.

"I feel that the way the team plays of football will be a great fit for my game. I hope my attributes and know-how can help us to realize our aims both in England and in the Champions League."

The club's director of women's football, Man Utd's head of women's football, said: "Her scoring prowess is outstanding, her playing style will give our forward line an dynamic new dimension.

"Lea's winning mentality and pedigree will really help our ambitious and youthful team as we continue to grow together and compete across domestic and European competitions."

Building for the Future

United hope to be busy in the remaining weeks of the window as manager Marc Skinner seeks to strengthen his team for the latter stages of the top European competition.

The club has already agreed a new deal with important midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, who will now stay through to the end of the decade.
