The proposed measures, modeled on the tougher stance enacted by Scandinavian policymakers, renders refugee status temporary, limits the appeal process and proposes entry restrictions on countries that refuse repatriation.

Refugee Status to Become Temporary

Individuals approved for protection in the UK will only be allowed to stay in the country temporarily, with their status reviewed at two-and-a-half-year intervals.

This approach follows the method in Denmark, where protected persons get temporary residence documents and must submit new applications when they end.
