Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his future after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase like this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
